Lancaster is a university city that has a long history. Visitors can explore the city's history by visiting its castles and museums where they will hear dark stories of witches and murderers as well as stories of Lancaster's rich industrial and cultural history. The city's pedestrianised centre features boutique shops, high street stores, coffee shops, cafés and more to explore. St. George's Quay is a wonderful place to go for a peaceful walk. Along the Quay is the Maritime Museum where visitors can learn about Lancaster's maritime history. The museum features many hands-on exhibits that will entertain and educate children.
